As part of your visa application process, you will need to meet Australia’s health requirements. In order to meet these you may need to undergo a medical examination and will be notified by the Australian visa office if you do. You should wait until you are requested to undergo the medical examination before completing it as the examination results are only valid for 12 months. The purpose of the health requirements are to prevent diseases or conditions that may pose a threat to the Australian community and to prevent costs to the community and limit medical services to Australian permanent residents where those services are in short supply.
For more information on the health requirements, please visit the DIBP Health Requirements and Health Examinations web pages
When (and if) you are requested to undergo a your medical examination as part of your visa application process and are currently living outside Australia (overseas), you will need to make an appointment with an Australian Government approved panel physician. To find an approved panel physician near you, visit the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIPB) Immigration Panel Physicians Web Page.
If you are applying for a visa from within Australia, you will need to arrange an appointment for your medical examination with the migration medical services provider. This is currently Bupa Visa Medical Services.
